Farah Abushwesha
Farah Abushwesha is a writer and producer. She is the founding member of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forums which showcases new script writing talent at BAFTA, (past guests include Mike Newell, John Madden, Richard Eyre). It gives writers an opportunity to get feedback from established industry players.
Her production work includes several high-profile, award winning short films, BBC Drama Micro Men and the forthcoming feature The Scouting Book for Boys (Winner @ London Film Festival), La Chinoise (Winner at Locarno), The Descent Part 2, Welcome (Cannes 09), London River (Winner @ Berlin International Film Festival), The Cottage and Discovery Channel documentary Altas 4D. Her first live action film was the B3/UK Film Council backed Chicken Soup, which was selected for LA International Film Festival, BFI Times London Film Festival, Dublin International Film festival and Galway Film Festival. No Deposit, No Return was awarded Best Pitch in Cannes 2003 by The Times and was awarded UKFC funding.
She has also directed and produced the documentary Sir Alan Sugar Challenge with Griff Rhys Jones. Farah has worked in film education at the London Film Academy overseeing the production of all student graduation films and is currently working for Pulse College Film Course. She has participated, organised and chaired panels and events for BAFTA, LFA, Curzon Cinemas and at various international festivals. Having chaired all Rocliffe events, she sits on the BAFTA events and education committee, and headed the London Panel for the BAFTA 60 Seconds of Fame Competition and served on the BAFTA Short Film Award Jury 09. She is also a voting member of BAFTA, IFTA, Production Managers Association and Production Guild of Great Britain.
