LECTURERS

  • Naomi Moore – College Director

    Naomi Moore commenced her career in the Live Action department of Sullivan Bluth Animation Studios, working on such projects as 'An American Tail' and 'All Dogs go to Heaven'. In 1995 she joined Pulse Recording College team as Studio Manager. In 1997, she became a Director and Shareholder of Pulse Recording College. Naomi has been part of the team that has developed Pulse Recording College, The Engine Room, Area 51 and the acquisition of the Iconic Windmill Recording Studio overseeing the college transformations to become a center of excellence and "The leaders in creative media education".

  • Tony Perrey – College Director

    Tony Perrey was one of the founders of Pulse Recording College established in 1991. Pulse Recording College was the first sound training college in Ireland to offer City & Guilds qualification in sound engineering in association with the City of Westminster College London. Tony was responsible for establishing The Engine Room Recording Studio, where he has worked with many of the country's top acts in an engineer / producer capacity. Clients include: Mary Black, Hot House Flowers, Maire Brennan (nominated for a Grammy Award), Christy Moore, The Vards, Aslan, Bellefire, Flood (producer of U2, New Order, Smashing Pumpkins etc.), Fiachra Trench (arranger inc. Pearl Harbour) and Ballykissangel. Tony has been part of the team that has developed Pulse Recording College, The Engine Room, Area 51 and the acquisition of the Iconic Windmill Recording Studio overseeing the college transformations to become a center of excellence and "The leaders in creative media education".

  • Aidan Alcock – College Director

    Aidan Alcock was one of the founders of Pulse Recording College established in 1991.   • Ken Tysom

    Ken Tysom is a renowned expert in sound for visual media with over ten years experience educating and lecturing in this specialist area. After completing college in 1998 Ken gained a teaching position at Pulse College in Dublin. From there he developed a passion for audio within a non-linear environment.

  • Farah Abushwesha

    Farah is a writer producer and founding member of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Forums which showcases new script writing talent at BAFTA, (past guests include Mike Newell, John Madden, and Richard Eyre). Her production work includes several high-profile, award winning short films, Late Bloomers with William Hurt and Isabella Rossellini, Micro Men, The Scouting Book for Boys (Winner @ London Film Festival), La Chinoise (Winner at Locarno), among many others. We are delighted to have Farah help u develop and teach on our scriptwriting course.

  • Noel Quinn - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Noel Quinn has been involved in the film business for almost forty years. His sound credits include Michael Collins, Veronica Guerin, Laws of Attraction and The Honeymooners. In 1989 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro. Noel has lectured extensively on film sound in Ireland and now lecturers at Pulse College in Dublin.

  • Phil Hayes - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Phil Hayes embarked on the career wrking in both live and studio environments with top Irish acts such as The Walls, JJ72, The Chalets, Gavin Friday, Paddy Casey. In 2006 Phil was asked to mix some songs for Oklahoma artist JD Thompson, the album being produced by legendary producer Lou Alder. 2009 included another number one record with BellX1 (Blue Lights on the Runway) mixing of albums by Gerry Fish, Delorentoes, One Day International and a first outing as producer with up and coming Dutch band I Kissed Charles.

  • Gregory Magee - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Gregg Magee is multi award winning sound producer. With an Irish Film & TV Award for Best Score under his belt for work in Winters End, he is also responsible for composing and producing all the music for The Fairytale. The Fairytale is a 26 part multi-award winning animation series, based on the stories of Hans Christian Anderson, which was broadcasted in more than 90 countries.

  • Ger McDonnell - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Ger is music producer/mixer/engineer with credits including U2, Manic Street Preachers, Dido, Texas, Def Leppard, Kasabian to name a few. At the age of eight, he began to study orchestral percussion at the College of Music. Ger went on to work extensively with Mike on various high-profile projects such as U2, utilising many of the best recording studios in the UK, Ireland and France.

  • Trevor Cunningham

    Trevor one of Pulse Colleges first set of students to graduate from our Audio Courses. He has over a decade of experience in both studio and location sound. Having started in studio sound recording he quickly found his feet as a location sound specialist for some of Irelands high profile television companies. Currently working on 'Far Away Up Close', this was not Trevor's first major foreign trip, having worked for a number of years on the 'No Frontiers' series. He also was the primary sound recordist on the series 'Who's Afraid of Islam?' also produced by Animo Television. Trevor is without a doubt, one of the best exponents of his craft.

  • George Geraghty

    George Geraghty has been working freelance with lighting and camera for a number of years. He has experience in set, studio and location lighting. As well as directing his own award winning short film 'Burn out' he has been Director of Photography on a number of short films including 'MOB' and 'Through the Trees'. George has also had previous experience as a lighting technician and focus puller. George also works freelance directing and lighting adverts for client's websites. George has qualifications in Film Production Techniques (FETAC) and Video Production (City and Guilds). He has worked on a variety of projects with Pan International, Antistrophe Films, Venom and Video agency France.

  • Cárthach Ó Nuanáin - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Cárthach Ó Nuanáin is a computer scientist and musician currently based in Dublin, Ireland. He joined Pulse College in 2009 as a lecturer on the Game Design & Analysis Diploma course and teaches the introductory module in programming. After working in industry as a software engineer for a number of years he developed an interest in multimedia and interactive entertainment. Recent projects include designing interactive music software and games for the Mac, PC and iPhone. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University College
Cork and an M.Phil in Music & Media Technologies from Trinity College Dublin.

  • David Christophers

    David Christophers is an industry renowned Engineer / Producer with 25 years of experience in both studio and live sound venues in Sydney and Dublin. He has also worked as a Part Time Lecture since 1987 in various colleges including Pulse College where from 2006 to May 2010 he was programme coordinator for our Audio Diploma courses. He is currently a guest lecturer on our Audio Diploma and Production Degree courses. He has worked with many clients including: Jack L, Mercury Rev, The Cranberries, The Average White Band, The Commitments, The Whipping Boy, Something Happens, Mundy, Josh Ritter, Fight Like Apes, Shane McGowan and The Hummingbirds. As well as Producing, David is a session guitarist and writes and arranges his own music gigging regularly as "Sunburnt Buddha"

  • Niall McMonagle

    Niall started working for Pulse in 2003 as head Engineer in our Studios and as a Senior Lecturer on our Audio Courses. Niall's list of album credits include, Bryan Adams, 50 Cent, Westlife, Sinead O Connor. TV/Film credits include RTE, TV3, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' (Jim Sheridan), Breakfast on Pluto (Neil Jordan). Niall has also toured extensively as a Front Of House Engineer for bands, including Mercury Award nominee Fionn Regan.

  • Pete Meighan - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Peter Meighan is a Dublin based producer, engineer and musician. His first big engineering break came when he was asked to record the “Couse” and “The Impossible” album "The World Should Know” which went on to be nominated for a Meteor award for Best Irish Album. Since then Pete has gone on to work with many Irish and UK acts, engineering and producing the critically acclaimed “Hybrasil” album "The Monkey Pole”. His most recent project was with UK band “North Atlantic”. Pete has been a guest lecturer at Pulse College since 2010, covering Ableton Live for pre-production and stage use, mix techniques in Logic Pro and Pro Tools.

  • Billy Farrell - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Billy Farrell is renowned dublin based producer who has worked with and co-produce acclaimed albums for high profile artists from Bonnie Tyler, The Corrs, Brian Kennedy and Westlife. He has embarked on many exceptional projects such as Wild Ocean 2 with John Hughes, which includes "The Mandela Suite", a 9 minute work cataloguing the life of Nelson Mandela.

  • Jason Duffy - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Irish born drummer and renowned self taught session musician Jason Duffy has been playing music from the tender age of 11. He has toured extensively with internationally acclaimed Irish artists such The Corrs, Michael Flatley, Bono, Sharon Shannon, Niamh Kavanagh, The Waterboys, Imelda May, Damian Dempsey, Sharon Corr and many many more. His career highlights include playing drums for the world famous and technically challenging "Lord of the Dance" tour.

  • Colm O'Foghlú - Guest Lecturer Profile

    Irish born Colm O'Foghlú (Director, Ember Productions) is renowned for his work writing and directing shows such as dance-theatre show Gaelforce Dance which toured throughout Australia, Europe, Asia and North America reaching a total audience of 4 million people. His other work includes Irish Thunder for Busch Gardens and for television, the soundtrack for The Land of Sex and Sinners. Recently Calm has been Musical Director for Riverdance and is responsible for the hugely popular Celtic Dawn for Fáilte Ireland. Colm's qualifications include has an M.A. in Drama and Performance Studies at University College Dublin and is currently busy as Artistic Director of An Béal Binn and as Co-Director of Ember Productions.
