STUDENTS GRANTED AWARDS

...

Orla O’Rourke – Irish Composer

I was lucky enough to receive a Travel and Training Award from The Arts Council to participate in the programme. To apply, you visit the website, fill in the application form, upload some samples of your music and include a letter of acceptance from the college. The Travel and Training Award runs all year but I would recommend applying a few months beforehand as I only received the payment the day before I left. This Award was a huge help and anyone who hopes to go to Varna should really look into it!

...

Jake Morgan – Irish Composer

I was granted the Travel & Training arts council bursary in 2015. It was a long process, I remember I had to submit a letter of acceptance, a few letters of recommendation, a personal statement and answer a few questions online about the course and how it would benefit me. I think this is ongoing funding with a deadline every two months or so, but I advise you to apply well in advance and give yourself loads of time to gather references and also to claim the funding once you are granted it. This takes some time as you have to submit a financial identification form signed and stamped by your bank.

Course Requirements

While it is possible to take this program composing all music on manuscript paper with just pencil, it is recommended that candidates have a laptop with Sibelius and Logic installed and we recommend using either the number pad on your laptop or a mini keyboard controller for note inputting.

Participants will be provided with course materials in pdf format throughout the program.

Participants will be required to show proof of health insurance coverage for the duration of their stay in Bulgaria one month prior to the program’s commencement.
