Welcome back to a summer edition of Pulse College newsletter. It has been a whirlwind month of exams, party organising and heat wave preparations.

Here at Pulse College we are looking forward to launching our range of Summer Courses in Gaming and Film as well as our 8 week introduction to Audio. If you need more information on these courses and our college visit www.pulecollege.eu

Pulse College is nominated to be City and Guilds Bursary Centre for Ireland

City & GuildsPulse College are delighted to announce that they are set to be the first college in Ireland to be nominated by the City & Guilds International Foundation to become a City & Guilds Bursary centre. Each year, only eight different countries are selected where the bursaries will be made available and Pulse College is proud to be the chosen institution for Ireland. This will allow Pulse College to put forward worthy students who may be under pressure financially, to have their college fees funded through the Bursary programme.

Noel Quinn: Guest Lecturer Profile

Noel QuinnNoel Quinn has been involved in the film business for almost forty years. He has worked on high profile feature films, documentaries, and commercials in Ireland and Australia. Noel's sound credits include Michael Collins, Veronica Guerin, Laws of Attraction and The Honeymooners; in 1989 he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Hijacking of the Achille Lauro. Noel has lectured extensively on film sound in Ireland and is one of Pulse College guest lecturers for location sound. We take an in-depth look on what life on location in some of the world's most exotic destinations and find out if it really is as glamorous as it sounds.

Q1: Tell us a bit about yourself background where you're from etc.

I was born and raised in Stillorgan in a family of three boys and three girls. I hated going to school, I went to primary and technical school. My Dad was a self educated man and he always emphasised the importance of education.

4th Annual Dingle Film Festival a Roaring Success

Dingle Film FestivalDingle Film Festival 2010 returned by popular demand and this year was bigger and better that ever. In its 4th year running it was once again a huge success with sun shining and celebrities out in force. The decision to move the date from September to March, turned out to be a wise one and as a result double the festival attendance. This allowed the organisers to expand this year's event, enabling the festival to screen several Irish films which attracted a major attendance from the Irish film industry.

Cillian Murphy(Batman Begins, Red Eye) opened the event with Perrier's Bounty; Stephen Frears(The Snapper, The Queen) was presented the Gregory Peck Award from Ned Dowd (Last of The Mohicans); Head of RED Europe, Alan Piper came to Dingle, along with Laura Castelli of Assimilate, Eugene McCrystal and Kevin Smart from HoloVis.

BBC 6 MusicThe threatened alternative music station BBC 6 defies its sceptics and proves there that there is room for an alternative music station, as it emerges victorious at the industry's top awards ceremony. The winners of the 27th annual Sony Radio Academy Awards, the UK's most prestigious radio accolades, were announced at London's Grosvenor House Hotel with BBC 6 coming out on top.
