Testimonials

  • "The hands on approach was at the heart of the Pulse College Audio course. You were encouraged to try things out at home and take it on yourself. The tricks of the trade were shared by the tutors and eventually helped us in recording our album."

  • "Pulse came out on top because of its practical based courses, Pro Tools certifications, they weren't just focused on the music business alone and the classes were small so you weren't going to get left behind if you didn't get something the first time. The equipment they had (and that you got to use) was amazing (I went in there knowing nothing about what it was or did mind you...) from Protools HD systems to classic analog gear, getting to know and use these things is something that has stood by me to this day."

  • "During the course at Pulse I was lucky enough to get a job at Ropewalk Studios, which later became OFI Studios in Ringsend as an assistant engineer. With the help of the guys in Pulse I was able to combine the two... so what I was learning at Pulse combined with the real life situations at the studio proved to be invaluable. The encouragement they always offered was enormous which led to great confidence, which was fantastic."

  • "Pulse basically set my entire foundation of the full audio industry spectrum. Depending what you were most interested in and how hard you studied it gave way more than just a foundation. From studio work including using Pro tools and or Logic, to Post Production and live."

  • "It was the complete scope of subjects and topics that had me interested throughout the duration of studies in Pulse. It helped me get a better understanding of sound engineering as such - from mixing console layout to music history to measuring a tape recorder’s frequency response!"

  • "After completing a boring science degree at UCD I decided it was time to try something new and fun. With travelling highest on the agenda a neighbour informed me of the course he had taken at Pulse College. Possessing a limited background only in music performance I was blown away by the facilities at Pulse and what the course had to offer. I enrolled and, under the brilliant guidance of their warm and friendly staff I was soon working as the assistant engineer at Windmill Lane Recording. I never did make it travelling but I'd never have been afforded the chance to work at Windmill if it hadn't been for the brilliant course at Pulse. I couldn't recommend it enough!"

  • "After completing parts 1 and 2 City and Guilds at Pulse College I set up a small live sound company with another Pulse student. Since then we have both toured internationally as live sound engineers while maintaining our business at home.

The course in Pulse College has proven to be invaluable in my understanding of audio in general and specifically in relation to how to control it in a live context.

I found the people and the environment at Pulse to be excellent in helping me get to grips with the many and varied aspects of the audio industry.

There is a huge emphasis on development within the college which helps to keep both students and lecturers at the cutting edge of the industry and any time I call in there is a new course in place and the most up to date audio equipment has been installed. This commitment to development and technology makes Pulse College the leader in its field. I highly recommend any of the courses to anybody with an interest in the audio industry."

  • "I loved every second of Pulse; both the practical and academic aspects. I'm not sure if you cut tape there anymore but I loved the 1/4" editing projects which helped me a lot when I moved on to working with 2" tape and again when everything went digital. It was actually surprising how well those projects prepared me for editing in the digital domain."

  • "Deciding to study sound engineering at Pulse College turned out to be the most important decision I made in my whole life. The quality of the course content combined with the support on offer provided me with all the tools I needed to go on and become a successful engineer and producer. In the music business you really need to learn to walk before you can run, and there is no better place in the country to do that! Although ten years have passed since I finished the course I still have a great relationship with the staff members and regularly record and mix in their studios, Area 51 and The Engine Room."

I purchase, sell and support most of the Digidesign product range along with copious amounts of Apple hardware and software and anything else people want. Some of our customers that I deal with are RTE, Windmill Lane, Screen Scene, The Farm, Limerick IT, Tallaght IT, Lotus Films, Reelgood and many more. I also am solely responsible for the Tyrell Store website."

  • "I started working with an AV company back in August, just after I finished my course in Pulse. I worked with AVS until February 2008. I was setting up PA systems for conferences and operating them. I got to travel a lot all over the country which was cool. I got offered a two year contract with RTE in December to work in TV Sound dept. Currently I'm working in RTE whenever they need me, which is usually once or twice a fortnight; sometimes more, it varies a lot. I'm hoping the hours will improve the longer I'm there. I'm doing a lot of freelance light and sound work in theatres too, I've been involved in a few tours and musicals. I can honestly say that the 2 year course in Pulse has prepared me for working in the industry, from simple things like wrapping cables properly to knowing the Midas Venice desk inside out. (It's amazing how many people work in live sound who can't wrap a cable or use a mixing desk properly)."

  • "The biggest help I got from going to Pulse was through their connections in the music business. Through them I managed to get a very good job in a great recording studio, this would not have happened without their help and it was the best start possible to a career in recording"

  • "I am currently working on my dissertation which I have titled "'Coming Out of the Dark' - A Sound Art Reading of Samuel Beckett's Radio Plays." The technical knowledge I gained at Pulse helped me no-end in the first year as I was able to get on with creative work while many on the course where being introduced to sequencers and audio technology for the first time. Glad to hear the college is doing well."
